So whilst on vacation in Durban in December, I was so excited to finally be able to go to a LUSH store and pick up some products. I had been hesitant to pace an online order many a time purely because of their steep R90 delivery charge to Johannesburg (I wanted a few products and it totalled over 4kgs apparently).
I am so excited to share with you this amazing special. The worth of products in this collection is beyond what I paid for it. I have never used Elizabeth Arden makeup before and I thought this was a great way to try it out since I know it is a world renowned brand. The makeup brushes on the counter in store was what caught my eye, and upon inquiring about their price I was introduced to this 18-piece collection. For now I will just be unboxing the items to show you what is contained in the set and I will do a proper review with swatches once I’ve tried everything out. Let’s get started. I’ve had my eye on these babies for a while now. I finally made the decision to purchase them and I have no regrets whatsoever.
A couple of weeks ago I received an email invite from The Body Shop about their Makeup Madness Happy Hour. Well, it was for two hours, and ALL their makeup items were 50% off for ‘Love your body’ members. For non-members, you can sign up for a membership card in store and rack up points every time you purchase items from them. I arrived a bit early to scout the selection and the lady offered to keep my items until 4 o’clock. I happily, and peacefully, got to browse at my own leisure without too much of the madness. So in this post I’m going to be focusing on the lip items I picked up and then on the face items in the next edition. I really think that The Body Shop products are worth every cent and they are all 100% animal cruelty free.
The Body Shop Colour Crush Lipsticks
I absolutely fell in love with all of the colours the minute I applied it. It glides on so softly and each shade is infused with a subtle rose scent so it smells heavenly. The colours vary from vibrant pops of colour to your everyday no makeup nudes. Although it boasts to be long lasting, I felt that because of the texture of the lipstick, it wore off easily and needed to be reapplied throughout the day. One of the main ingredients is Marula oil which provides moisture and I didn’t need to wear any lip balm underneath like I usually do. My favourite of the lot is the purple ‘Damson in Distress’. Even though it is more of an autumn shade, I’ll definitely be wearing them all year through. Price R120 (3.5g)
The Body Shop Love Gloss
My favourite thing about this gloss it the cute almost-heart shaped applicator. It picks up a lot of product to be applied to the lips. It also smells lovely, like a hint of candy. The gloss lasts about 4 hours if you’re not eating or drinking anything and there is little to no transfer if you do. It’s not too sticky and has a shimmery finish. I think the more pigmented glosses such as the Raspberry are more versatile and can be worn both day and night. Price R120 (7.5ml)
Hope you enjoyed this post, stay tuned for Part 2…
