Yesterday I finally received my first Rubybox. Why I say ‘October’ box is because that is when I first subscribed and it takes up to 10 working days for the order to be delivered after receiving payment. Rubybox is the only subscription beauty box in South Africa at the moment. You pay R169 per month and they select 4-5 items to send you based on the beauty profile you complete upon signing up. This price includes delivery and for any additional items you purchase, you can request for it to be delivered with your next Rubybox so you don’t pay extra delivery fees. The idea behind the Rubybox subscription is that it gives you chance to try out some full and trial size products before purchasing it at full price.
Here are the items I received in my October Rubybox with the indicative prices that they are listed for on the Rubybox website:
- Rubybox Beauty ‘Fresh in a Flash’ Brush Cleaner R69.95 (100ml)
- AAA Patchouli Mint & Sage Soap R54.95 (200g)
- Rubybox Beauty ‘Touch up Time’ Concealer Brush R119.95
- Rubybox Hair Ribbon Elastic Hair Band Set of Five R44.95
After subscribing to Rubybox, I placed an order for the brush cleaner as I wanted to try it out. I happened to received one in the October Rubybox as well so now I’m sitting with 2 bottles. After trying it out, I love the smell and it the way it cleans my brushes so fast and effortlessly is incredible (I’m used to shampooing my brushes which take up a good hour and a full arm workout).
I’m not entirely thrilled about all the items I received this month as it’s not really items I would purchase or use otherwise but it is total of R289.80 worth of products. As a monthly subscriber you earn VIP Insider status which entitles you to purchase certain brands such as Urban Decay, Soap & Glory and Marc Jacobs. Rubybox also offers 15% discount to subscribers to repurchase full size items that was received in previous boxes.
The other cool thing about Rubybox is the ability to earn rubyRands which can be spent on purchases in the Rubybox shop. You earn rubyRands by purchasing products, completing surveys and referring friends to Rubybox.
I am currently subscribed to the monthly Rubybox subscription which enables me to opt out at any time with no penalty or cancellation fees and my account is debited on a month to month basis.
The reason I like shopping on the Rubybox website is that they have a wide range of brands and products available, sometimes which is cheaper than some department stores (like their Stila glazes and blushes). They also have amazing specials, like the Lunchbox Mystery Box I received below. The usual Rubybox Mystery Mix retails for R100 and I paid just R50 on special for the following products.
Pepper Tree Bubble Bath Berry Blast R29.95 (200ml)
Nyx Round Lipgloss in Ballerina Pink R54.95 (2.5ml)
Emanual Ungaro Diva Rose Parfum R20.00 (Trial size)
Again, not 100% thrilled with the items but let’s wait and see what November brings.
P.S. I found this website that offers vouchers on certain items in the Rubybox store. All you need to do is copy the coupon code upon checking out. Happy Shopping Ladies!
LOTS OF LOVE
