Shiseido Lipsticks Review

I’ve had my eye on these babies for a while now. I finally made the decision to purchase them and I have no regrets whatsoever.

A bit about the company first. Shiseido is the largest cosmetic firm in Japan and the 4th largest cosmetics company worldwide. Their subsidiaries produce fragrances such as Issey Miyake, Jean-Paul Gaultier and makeup brand Bare Escentuals and NARS (which we are not fortunate enough to have in South Africa yet). Shiseido was first launched in South Africa in 2010 and is available at selected Edgars and Stuttafords stores nationwide.

Now on to the fun stuff.

Shiseido Lacquer Rouge in Tango (RD529)

The Shiseido saleswoman convinced me to buy this product and now I’m glad that I did. The colour I chose is a playful mixture between purple and pink so it’s perfect for any season, any time of the day. I initially thought that it was a lip gloss but when I got home and applied it, it looked just like lipstick. It was thick and creamy but not too sticky. It has a lip gloss applicator and it applies evenly to the lips without any bleeding. Just one coat is all it takes to get intense colour. It contains Super Hydro-Wrap Vitalizing DE which is a moisturizing ingredient so lips stay moist and luscious throughout the day and over time, it improves dry, rough and peeling lips. The formula is long lasting and although it blots easily, it fades beautifully without any patches. Available in 30 shades. Price R339.95 (6ml/0.2oz)

Shiseido Perfect Rouge in Fantasia (RS745) and Bubblegum (PK417)

The tip is specially sculpted and angled to apply the lipstick evenly in just one stroke. This formula also doesn’t bleed when applied. The range of colours is stunning although I was looking for a coral shade which they don’t have. It’s more reds, purples and pinks and no nudes. It also contains Super Hydro-Wrap Vitalizing DE and Hyaluronic acid to lock in moisture the whole day. The formula contains Red Illuminating Pearl technology which creates brilliant and vivid colour from the instant it is applied. The texture is smooth and creamy and has long lasting shine. Available in 25 shades. Price R344.95 (4g/0.14oz)

I am absolutely in love with my picks but I’ll be keeping a lookout for specials as it’s a bit heavy on the pocket. I wonder what other Shiseido products I should try next.
