Madame Zingara’s Theatre of Dreams
So last weekend was my ‘birthday weekend’ 🙂 and it was absolutely amazing. On Saturday night I finally got to see what everyone has been raving about and boy was it awesome.
Stepping through the archway towards the mirrored tent made me feel like Alice going down the rabbit hole. Everywhere I looked were bizarre characters from Aladdin lookalikes to surfer dudes and Vikings. Patrons roamed between the bar and boutique before the show, grabbing a drink or a feather boa to adorn their attire. Hypnotised, one question sprang to mind, is this real? Or a fantasy?
We were ushered to our 8-seater table in the Golden Circle. The tickets are the most expensive at R495pp ($45) and although we all had a great view of the stage, all the tables were squashed close together (probably to accommodate to the max). Our beautiful waitress, Hannah, came over to take our drinks order. Our food was pre-ordered as ‘Strictly Halaal’ even though the Theatre of Dreams claims to have a ‘Halaal Friendly’ kitchen. The 4-course meal tasted mediocre, served cold and far from fancy. I hope the other guests had a better food experience.
The show on the other hand, was incredible. From the hilarious jester, HotMrC and his sidekick fairy, to the amazing Ukranian balance beam artist, Daryna, it really was an extraordinary evening. It is a spectacle that cannot be put into words and we were not allowed to take photos during the show so to see a lineup of a few of the artists click here. During one of the intervals, we made our way to the boutique. At a small additional cost, brother duo Scharl and Kyle Redgrave transformed our faces with makeup and glitter like works of art. They matched the colours to our outfits which made for amazing pictures.
Overall, I had a wonderful evening and would recommend you book yourself for an unforgettable encounter. Lastly, thank you to all of my friends who shared this marvelous evening with me.
LOTS OF LOVE
